10% Appraisal Cap (Texas)
Texas law limits how much your homestead's appraised value can increase each year — to 10% above the previous year's value. This doesn't cap your market value or tax rate, only the assessed value used for taxes. The cap "resets" if you lose your homestead exemption (by selling or renting). Significant protection in fast-growing markets like Mont Belvieu.
