Insurance Deductible
The amount you pay out-of-pocket before insurance covers a claim. Standard homeowner's deductibles: $1,000–$5,000 flat. Wind and hail deductibles are often separate — commonly 1–3% of the insured home value (so $3,000–$9,000 on a $300K home). Know your deductible before deciding whether to file a claim. A contractor who offers to "waive your deductible" is violating Texas insurance law.
