A ventilation component installed along the peak (ridge) of the roof that allows hot air and moisture to escape from the attic. Works in combination with soffit vents to create airflow through the attic. Proper attic ventilation extends shingle life (attic heat bakes shingles from underneath), reduces cooling load, and prevents moisture problems. Critical in hot, humid East Texas.
